Belbimbre
Village
Belbimbre is a Burgos village of 53 inhabitants, in the Odra-Pisuerga comarca, situated at the confluence of the Cogollos and Arlanzón rivers, a position that gave it importance in the Middle Ages. Known then as Belmimbre, it was a seigniorial town with an ordinary mayor within the old district of Castrojeriz. It had its own monastery, that of San Millán de Belbimbre, and preserves some ruins of the castle that defended it, as well as a church with a 12th-century baptismal font. Since the mid-20th century it has been progressively losing population. It celebrates the Nativity of Our Lady on 8 September and San Isidro on 15 May.
