Villaverde-Mogina
Village
Villaverde-Mogina is a hamlet in the province of Burgos with 68 inhabitants, situated in the Odra-Pisuerga comarca beside the Castile motorway and the Arlanzón river, which runs through the north of the municipal territory; the village stands at 781 metres above sea level. In the mid-19th century it had barely 266 inhabitants, according to the dictionary of Pascual Madoz. It preserves the palace-house of the Barona family, also called Barahona, and the Romanesque church dedicated to San Adrián and Santa Natalia, whose feast is celebrated on 16 June; on the third weekend of September a pilgrimage climbs to the Virgen de la Vega.
