Pedro-Rodríguez
Village
Pedro-Rodríguez is a village in La Moraña, in the province of Ávila, about 17 kilometres from Arévalo and near the Arevalillo river. Of medieval origin, it is documented as early as 1250, within the tercio of Rágama, in the archdeaconry of Arévalo of the diocese of Ávila; in the mid-19th century it had 72 inhabitants, compared with 131 today. Its church of San Pedro Apóstol, the village's most important monument, some eight centuries old, preserves a Mudéjar apse of arcading over friezes of dentils and sawtooth brickwork, a porch with a brick arch painted red and white, a 16th-century altarpiece with eighteen paintings, and a couple-and-collar-beam roof (armadura de par y nudillo) over its single nave.
