Cabizuela
Village
Cabizuela is a town of about 89 inhabitants in the district of La Moraña, province of Ávila, a typical Morañan settlement set on a sandy plain dotted with pine woods and cut by the Arevalillo river. The earliest settlements of the district, documented at sites such as Villares and Galindos, go back to the Bronze Age, within the Cogotas culture, and some studies place here the northern frontier of the Celtic Vettones people. Among the municipality's old depopulated hamlets, Galindos is the one of greatest historical significance, and remains of what was once a hermitage are still remembered. Its neo-mudéjar church was built on top of an earlier one.
