Muñosancho
Village
Muñosancho is a hamlet in the comarca of La Moraña, in the province of Ávila, within the judicial district of Arévalo, at 905 metres above sea level and with a municipal area of 19.72 km². It has 87 inhabitants; in the mid-19th century Madoz's dictionary counted 142 residents, almost double today's, and described 54 medium-sized houses around several streets and a square, with a town hall that also served as a jail and a school with 16 to 20 pupils. Its parish church, dedicated to San Juan Bautista, was then an annex of Fontigueros. Wheat, barley, rye, carob and chickpea farming was exported to the markets of Peñaranda.
