Crespos
Village
Crespos is a municipality of about 463 inhabitants situated at 923 metres, on the boundary between the districts of Ávila and Arévalo — the latter known as La Moraña, land of wheat and sunflower —, which also brings together the settlements of Chaherrero and Pascualgrande. It came to exceed 1,200 inhabitants in the 1950s and 1960s, before emigration to the big cities reduced its population. It preserves the church of San Juan Bautista and the tower of Santa Inés, as well as an old railway station much used between 1960 and 1990 that is today an emblem of the village. At its festivals the whole village joins hands for the traditional Vermouth Dance.
