What to see and do in Villamiel de Toledo

Villamiel de Toledo
Village
Villamiel de Toledo is a municipality in the Torrijos comarca, in Toledo, with evidence of existence since the mid-12th century as a hamlet that probably belonged to Toledo; in 1228 it came under the encomienda of El Viso. Documented as Villamellis, it was named in 1674 Villamiel de Fuente Hermosa because it belonged to the marquis of that title, who proclaimed it a town; in 1704 it was sold to Pedro Robles Corvalán, and until the 1916 reform it was called simply Villamiel. It has 1,097 inhabitants (INE 2025), rising since 2001. Its main monument is the church of Nuestra Señora de la Redonda, dedicated to the town’s patroness, around which the old town centre is concentrated and where the festivities are held.

Monument
Parish church dedicated to the town's patron saint, the municipality's main monument. According to Pascual Madoz's mid-19th-century description, it was then an entry-level benefice (curato de entrada) under the patronage of the commander of the Order of St John.
