What to see and do in Camarenilla

Camarenilla
Village
Camarenilla is a municipality of Torrijos, in Toledo, in a valley bordering Arcicóllar, Recas, Bargas, Villamiel de Toledo and Fuensalida. Its name derives from that of Camarena: in the 12th century King Alfonso VII handed the site, then called Camarena Alta, to Domingo Domínguez. In the mid-19th century its economy was based on wheat, barley, rye and legumes, with some sheep, oxen and mules, and it had 332 inhabitants, compared with the current 606. Its main heritage feature is the church of Nuestra Señora del Rosario, with a 15th-century baptismal font. Besides Holy Saturday, when an effigy representing Judas is burned, the festive calendar includes El Mayo, on 30 April, and the patronal feasts in July.
