What to see and do in Barcience

Barcience
Village
Barcience is a municipality in the Torrijos comarca, in the province of Toledo, set in a valley dominated by several nearby heights. The municipal area preserves archaeological remains from the Neolithic culture, with bell-beaker pottery, and vestiges of a Hispano-Roman villa; in 1259 it was recorded as a hamlet of Toledo devoted to vine growing. In the 15th century, King Henry IV granted the site to the House of Silva together with the county of Cifuentes, and from then on the 14th-century castle that overlooks the valley remained linked to that lineage. Next to the parish church of Santa María la Blanca it preserves the palace of the Casa Calderón. It has 1,110 inhabitants (INE 2025), with marked growth since 2006, and celebrates its patronal feasts in honour of Santa Julita in the second week of June.
