What to see and do in Yunclillos

Yunclillos
Village
Yunclillos is a municipality in the comarca of La Sagra, in the province of Toledo, situated at its western edge, bordered by the río Guadarrama and, more extensively, by the Tagus, 21 km south of the city of Toledo. Its name, perhaps a diminutive of Yuncos, already appears in Mozarabic documents from 1161, and frequently during the 12th and 13th centuries, in the forms Onclelos and Oclelos. It stands at 517 metres altitude and has 819 inhabitants (INE 2025). It preserves the parish church of San Andrés Apóstol and celebrates the festivities of the Virgen del Carmen from 16 to 18 July, followed in September by those of the Virgen de la Salud and, on 30 November, the feast of San Andrés.
Church of San Andrés Apóstol de Yunclillos
Monument

The Guadarrama in Yunclillos
Nature
The río Guadarrama borders the municipal area of Yunclillos, situated at about 517 metres of altitude at the westernmost end of the comarca of La Sagra, whose boundary the river itself marks on this side. The riverbed passes a little more than a kilometre west of the town centre. Yunclillos is one of the least populated municipalities in the comarca, with 819 inhabitants according to the 2025 census.
Onclelos, the Mozarabic name of Yunclillos
Curiosity
Mozarabic documents from 1161 record the place under the names Onclelos and Oclelos. From these forms it has been proposed that Yunclillos is a diminutive of fuente (spring), although it is also suggested that it could be a diminutive of Yuncos, the neighbouring town from which it would take its name.
Festivities of la Virgen del Carmen de Yunclillos
Activity
July fiestas in honour of the Virgen del Carmen, held from the 16th to the 18th of that month, followed in September by those of the Virgen de la Salud, celebrated on the second or third Sunday of the month in Yunclillos.
