La Toba
Village
La Toba is a municipality in the northern mountains of Guadalajara, in Castilla-La Mancha, situated at 939 metres of altitude with a population of 70 inhabitants (INE 2025), compared with the 540 recorded in the mid-19th century. Its most important monument is the 16th-century pillory, which was used to carry out sentences on convicts, not always the death penalty. It also has the parish church of San Juan Bautista, a rural Romanesque building erected at the end of the 14th century, and its own coat of arms and flag, officially approved in 2011. Its hillside, covered with oak and holm oak, has seven springs.
