What to see and do in Robledo de Corpes

Robledo de Corpes
Village
Robledo de Corpes is a municipality of the northern sierra of Guadalajara, with 39 inhabitants, situated at 1,146 metres of altitude and bordering, among others, Atienza and Hiendelaencina. Until the reform of municipal nomenclature in 1916 it was called simply Robledo, when it came to incorporate the surname Corpes. Tradition identifies its territory, a place of passage with vestiges of a Roman road and several springs, with the oak wood where the Cantar de mio Cid places the affront of Corpes, in which the infantes of Carrión abandoned to their fate Elvira and Sol, daughters of Rodrigo Díaz de Vivar; it should not be confused with Castillejo de Robledo, in the province of Soria, to which the episode is also attributed.
