Yebes
Village
Yebes is a municipality in the La Alcarria comarca, in the province of Guadalajara, made up of the traditional village of Yebes, situated in the tabular relief typical of the comarca between tablelands and ravines with oak and holm oak woods, and the Ciudad Valdeluz development, built next to the Guadalajara-Yebes high-speed railway station, on the Madrid-Zaragoza-Barcelona-French Border line; its construction, which came to plan up to 9,000 homes, became a textbook case of the Spanish property bubble. It also houses the Yebes Astronomical Centre, of the Instituto Geográfico Nacional, and the Alcohete sanatorium, as well as the Posición Saldón bunker, which was the headquarters of the Republican IV Army Corps. It has 5,637 inhabitants.
