Tresjuncos
Village
Tresjuncos is a municipality in La Mancha Conquense, in Cuenca, with 258 inhabitants and 70.29 km², 18 km from Belmonte. The hill on which it stands has been inhabited since the Bronze Age, and in the Toconar water-meadow Neolithic tools and Bell Beaker pottery have been found. In Roman times, under the influence of nearby Segóbriga, it went through a period of prosperity and was an obligatory route towards it from the lapis specularis mines of Osa and Belmonte; from that period dates a Roman villa with mosaics, discovered in the mid-19th century, whose basilica was a centre of Christian worship in the Middle Ages under the invocation of San Benito. It obtained the title of villa in 1635, under Philip IV, on separating from Belmonte, and celebrates its main festivities on 7 August in honour of San Cayetano.
