Cañada Juncosa
Village
Cañada Juncosa is a municipality of 213 inhabitants in the La Mancha Conquense district, in the province of Cuenca, set between two irrigation channels in a small hollow amid open farmland, with extensive fields of sunflowers and wheat and, at its north-eastern edge, part of the Alarcón reservoir. Its parish church of the Assumption is a 16th-century building, with a double-roll moulded doorway and a chapel dedicated to San Isidro covered by a Mudéjar coffered ceiling. It also preserves the Peana de San Isidro, the so-called Pino Lorito pine tree and an old washhouse. Its festivities, in honour of San Isidro, are held on 15 May.
