What to see and do in Grisel

Grisel
Village
Grisel is a small municipality of Tarazona y el Moncayo, in Zaragoza, with 101 inhabitants, at 625 metres above sea level, 5 km south of Tarazona and at the foot of the Diezma hill, today home to a wind farm. It was a mostly Muslim settlement until the forced conversions of the 16th century and the expulsion of the Moriscos in the 17th, after which it was left almost depopulated; in the 20th century it lost population again, falling from 500 inhabitants to a tenth of that today. The cultural association La Diezma works to revitalise the village, which lives off the wind farm and rural tourism businesses. It preserves a restored 15th-century castle, seat of the association Amigos de los Castillos de Aragón, and a 16th-century Mudejar church; the Pozo de los Aines sinkhole opens within its territory.
