What to see and do in Layana

Layana
Village
Layana is a municipality in the Cinco Villas region, in the province of Zaragoza, with a very small municipal area, barely 3.7 km², almost entirely surrounded by that of Uncastillo, and about 95 inhabitants; it is crossed by the Riguel river, a tributary of the Arba de Luesia. It was a hamlet of Uncastillo until, in the early 20th century, it became independent as its own municipality. It preserves a medieval tower and the De Agri Cultura Interpretation Centre, devoted to rural life in Roman times around the nearby city of Los Bañales, of which several pillars of the aqueduct survive. It celebrates its festival from 12 to 15 August and honours its patron, Santo Tomás Becket, on 29 December, with farinoso as the traditional dessert.
