What to see and do in Romanos

Romanos
Village
Romanos is a municipality in the Campo de Daroca, in Zaragoza, at 922 m above sea level, which in 1248, by privilege of James I, broke away from Daroca and joined the Sesma de Langa, within the Comunidad de Aldeas de Daroca, a regime that lasted until 1833. It was an important village during the Reconquest, in the 14th-century War of the Two Pedros, of which the ruins of a castle survive today; within its precinct stands the church of San Pedro Apóstol, from the 16th century, with a square-plan Gothic-Mudéjar tower built around 1400, included in 2001 in UNESCO's declaration on Aragonese Mudéjar architecture. The main festivities, from 24 to 26 August, honour San Bartolomé with a procession, a pilgrimage to the hermitage of los Remedios, and the distribution of migas and vino en teja. It has 140 inhabitants.
