Cosa
Village
Cosa is a municipality of the Jiloca, in Teruel, which also includes the locality of Corbatón and is situated in the Teruel Iberian System, east of the depression of the Jiloca river; the village stands at 1,185 metres above sea level. In 1248, by privilege of James I, it broke away from Daroca and passed to the Sesma de Barrachina, within the Community of Villages of Daroca, dissolved in 1838. Its church of the Assumption, a baroque work from the 18th century now in ruins except for the outer walls and the tower, has three naves with a barrel vault and side domes, and a tower of stone and brick with openings decorated with sawtooth patterns in the mudéjar tradition. It also preserves the Casa Grande, with a large ashlar gateway and a sundial. In the mid-19th century it had 244 inhabitants; today it has 63.
