Pancrudo
Village
Pancrudo is a municipality of Comunidad de Teruel, located at an altitude of 1,233 metres in the Teruel section of the Iberian System, where the river that gives it its name rises; it includes the villages of Cervera del Rincón, Cuevas de Portalrubio and Portalrubio, and today has 118 inhabitants, compared with the 272 recorded in the mid-19th century by Madoz's Diccionario. In 1248, by privilege of James I, it separated from Daroca and joined the Sesma de Barrachina. The oldest surviving buildings date from the 16th century: the town hall, with its round-arched loggia, and the church of la Asunción, a Gothic temple with a single nave, chapels between buttresses and a star-ribbed vault.
