What to see and do in Valbona

Valbona
Village
Valbona is a municipality in the comarca of Gúdar-Javalambre, in the province of Teruel, at 949 metres above sea level, with 187 inhabitants, located in the upper valley of the Mijares river, between the Javalambre and Gúdar mountain ranges. The Valbona river separates the main settlement from the district of Mislata, incorporated into the municipality in 1925 and which retains a strong identity of its own; it preserves an arch of the old medieval wall, next to the calle del Horno, in the oldest part of the village. In the 15th century it benefited, like the rest of the comarca's settlements, from the wool trade. Its church of San Antonio Abad, Baroque, from the 16th century, was enlarged a century later with two further naves, and the ermita of the Virgen de Loreto, also from the 16th century, has a portico and a single nave.

Festivities of Valbona
Activity
The festivities of Valbona are held next to its parish church, dedicated to San Antonio Abad, dating from the 16th century and built in Baroque style. The building was first constructed with a single nave with ribbed vaulting, and a century later it was extended with two more naves, giving it the three-nave layout it retains today. The village lies in the upper valley of the Mijares, between the Sierras of Javalambre and Gúdar, watered by the Valbona river.
