What to see and do in Seno

Seno
Village
Seno is a town of Bajo Aragón, in the Guadalope basin, bordering the Maestrazgo, at 812 m above sea level. Its origins are remote: there are remains from the Neolithic and the Bronze and Iron Ages, an Iberian settlement at Vallipón destroyed by Roman legions, and Muslim and Templar fortifications, among them probably a tower that gave rise to the present settlement. It received its Templar founding charter in 1282. The houses cluster around the church of Santa Elena, of masonry with a slender Mudejar tower, built by public subscription between 1763 and 1771; it preserves paintings on the main altar depicting the eight women of the Old Testament. At some distance stands the hermitage of San Valero, from the 18th century, next to a spring with water at a constant 15 degrees, reputed to be curative.

Activity
Seno celebrates its winter festivity in honor of San Valero on the last weekend of January, and its summer ones for Santa Elena and San Roque from 14 to 16 August. It received a Templar founding charter in 1282, and on 23 July 1789 Carlos IV definitively separated it from Castellote.
