What to see and do in Las Parras de Castellote

Las Parras de Castellote
Village
Las Parras de Castellote is a small municipality of Bajo Aragón, in the province of Teruel, which went from 517 inhabitants in the mid-19th century to little more than fifty today, spread between the main settlement and the hamlet of Jaganta, besides numerous now-uninhabited farmhouses. It lives off agriculture, livestock farming and a clay-sand mine in Jaganta. It preserves the church of San Nicolás de Bari, from 1704, an oil mill next to the town hall, and the oil mill of Jaganta, from the 17th century, in use until 1946 and surviving almost intact to this day. Near Jaganta, the hermitage of Santa Bárbara offers an exceptional viewpoint over the Guadalope valley. During its festivals, its population can multiply almost tenfold with the arrival of descendants of former residents.
