What to see and do in Capdesaso

Capdesaso
Village
Capdesaso is a municipality of 190 inhabitants in the Huesca comarca of Los Monegros, in Aragon, which preserves the church of San Juan Bautista, from the 16th century, attached to an old Gothic defensive tower, and the hermitage of Santa Elena, also from the 16th century and in popular Gothic style. Beside the village stretches the karstic lagoon of la Laguneta, typical of the Monegros landscape, and the small holm-oak wood of the Carrascal de la Sarda, which announces the nearness of the Somontano. From the church and the hermitage a wide panorama is commanded, running from the sierra de Alcubierre to the torrollones of Marcén and, on clear days, as far as the massifs of Cotiella and Monte Perdido. Its main festival, in honour of Santa Cruz, is celebrated on 3 May.
