What to see and do in Canal de Berdún

Canal de Berdún
Village
Canal de Berdún is a municipality in the comarca of La Jacetania, in the province of Huesca, with 322 inhabitants (2025) and a very low density of 2.42 inhabitants per km². It lies in the orographic depression of the Canal de Berdún, crossed by the Aragón river, and resulted from the merger of several historic municipalities around 1970. It is made up of five settlements: Berdún, the seat, as well as Biniés, Majones, Martés and Villarreal de la Canal, together with the abandoned hamlet of Huértalo. It preserves the castle of Biniés, from the late 14th century, and at Majones a 12th-13th-century Romanesque church with a trefoil-shaped apse, unique in the whole of Upper Aragon, together with a 14th-century defence tower. Part of its municipal area is protected within the Parque Natural de los Valles Occidentales.
