What to see and do in Mianos

Mianos
Village
Mianos is a small municipality of Zaragoza province in the comarca of La Jacetania, situated in the valley of the Aragón river, near the Yesa reservoir, at 692 metres of altitude. Documented around the year 850 in the cartulary of San Juan de la Peña, its settlement lay on the Aragonese Camino de Santiago, which ran from east to west through it until 1137, when the route shifted northward; its name may derive from the Latin medianus, referring to a resting point halfway along the way. The territory was disputed in pre-Roman times among the Vascones, Suessetani and Iacetani, and came under the Roman Republic towards the end of the 2nd century or the beginning of the 1st century BC. There is no evidence of settlement in the present town centre before the 9th century; the settlement sits on a sunny hill, in the highest part of the municipality.
