What to see and do in Siétamo

Siétamo
Village
Siétamo is a municipality of 697 inhabitants in the Hoya de Huesca, 12 km from the capital, which includes Arbaniés, Castejón de Arbaniés and Liesa, joined to it in 1971. It was the seigneury of the untitled noble lineage of the Anzano family, owners of a castle-palace with a 20-metre tower defended by machicolations, destroyed in 1936 during the Civil War, when the FAI's Los Aguiluchos Column took the village after fierce fighting and a Republican aircraft set the church on fire. In the mid-sixteenth century, Bernardo Abarca de Bolea, vice-chancellor of the Council of Aragon, funded a convent of Discalced Franciscans there. Siétamo was, in 1719, the birthplace of Pedro Pablo Abarca de Bolea, Count of Aranda, president of the Council of Castile and ambassador to Paris, the architect of the expulsion of the Jesuits in 1767.
