What to see and do in Loporzano

Loporzano
Village
Loporzano is a municipality in the Hoya de Huesca comarca, about 8 kilometres from the capital, whose extensive territory, of 168.6 square kilometres, groups together sixteen localities, among them Barluenga, Bandaliés, Castilsabás and Vadiello, and reaches into the Sierra y los Cañones de Guara Natural Park. King Juan I of Aragon sold it on 18 August 1391 to the monastery of Montearagón. Its parish church of San Salvador, the work of Hernando Abadía between 1598 and 1601 and enlarged in the 18th century, has a nave with side chapels, is covered with plaster ribbed vaults, star-shaped over the chancel, and is topped with a five-tier tower with an octagonal spire. It lives from agriculture and has 576 inhabitants.
Church of Loporzano
Monument
The church of San Salvador de Loporzano, the work of Hernando Abadía between 1598 and 1601, was extended in the 18th century. It has a single-nave plan with side chapels connected to each other on the epistle side, covered by hardened-gypsum ribbed vaults in four bays and a star vault over the presbytery. The tower, of five cubic bodies, is topped by an octagonal capital, and the façade, sober in character, opens with an unadorned semicircular doorway.
