What to see and do in Benimuslem

Benimuslem
Village
Benimuslem is one of the smallest municipalities in La Ribera Alta, in Valencia, situated on the left bank of the Júcar River, on completely flat terrain. It has 674 inhabitants (INE 2025). It was a Muslim alquería granted to Gorgeri de Calatayud in 1244; it later passed to the Castellví family, who obtained the title of baron in 1473, and was depopulated in 1609 after the expulsion of the Moriscos. According to Cavanilles, in 1795 it produced rice, silk, wheat and maize, and had a landing stage on the Júcar, of which Embarcadero Street still remains, used until river navigation was abandoned in the 19th and 20th centuries. Today it lives from irrigated farming, with citrus fruits and vegetables. Its parish church stands out above the traditional houses for its dome of blue tiles and its square bell tower.
