What to see and do in El Boalo

El Boalo
Village
El Boalo is a municipality of the Guadarrama basin, in the Community of Madrid, with about 8,800 inhabitants spread across three settlements: El Boalo, Cerceda and Mataelpino. It lies at the foot of the southern slope of the sierra de Guadarrama, between Becerril de la Sierra, Moralzarzal and Manzanares el Real, and much of its territory falls within the Cuenca Alta del Manzanares regional park, created in 1985. Its streams, such as the Samburiel and those of El Palancar and Navahuerta, are tributaries of the Manzanares and usually dry up in summer because of the area's continentalised Mediterranean climate. In Cerceda stands the Gothic church of Nuestra Señora la Blanca, from the 16th century.

Activity
During the festivities of San Bartolomé the residents run in front of a ball of almost three hundred kilos and more than two and a half metres across, which rolls some seven hundred metres down the street; the idea was born around 2009 as an alternative to the bull run.
