Sant Martí d'Albars
Village
Sant Martí d'Albars is a municipality in the Lluçanès, in the province of Barcelona, documented since the 10th century, whose administrative capital is the settlement of la Blava; it also includes Beulaigua and several isolated farmhouses. It has 135 inhabitants (INE 2025) and its economy is based on rain-fed farming and livestock. The medieval bridge over the riera de la Gavarresa, which forms the border with Perafita, is one of the municipality's symbols and appears on the town council's emblem. The church of Sant Martí, in rural Baroque style built in the 18th century, preserves an image in the Romanesque tradition from the original church. The territory, part of the Osona comarca until 2023, then joined the new Lluçanès comarca and stands out for its biodiversity, with more than 3,500 species recorded.
