What to see and do in Sant Esteve Sesrovires

Sant Esteve Sesrovires
Village
Sant Esteve Sesrovires is a municipality in the Catalan Baix Llobregat, with 8,121 inhabitants (2025) at an altitude of 183 metres, bordering Martorell and with an exit onto the A-2 motorway, about 20 minutes from Barcelona. Its name recalls the old oak woods (rovira) of the area. The municipal area, covering 18.47 km² of flat terrain, is spread across nine population centres and has gone in little more than a century from having a single wool-handkerchief factory to hosting more than 150 industries, including facilities such as those of Chupa Chups and SEAT. The old town developed between the Can Llopart and Ca n'Estella streams, next to the parish church, and has a stop on the Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat on the Barcelona-Igualada line.
Castle of Sesrovires
Monument
The Castell de Sesrovires, remains of an old fortification in the municipality of Sant Esteve Sesrovires (Baix Llobregat), is documented since the Middle Ages, linked to the local barony. In 1221 Guillem de Montcada, lord of the barony, pledged it along with other assets to his creditors. In 1404 King Martí l'Humà separated the castle and the parish of Sant Esteve Sesrovires from the barony, and in 1503 Ferdinand the Catholic granted the right over it to his counsellor Lluís de Requesens.
