Matilla de los Caños
Village
Matilla de los Caños is a municipality of 116 inhabitants in a mere 12.28 square kilometres of the Valladolid Tierra del Vino, at 746 metres above sea level. Its municipal area contains the aerodrome that bears its name. In the mid-19th century Madoz's dictionary described it as having 60 houses and a spring of exquisite waters, with 40 residents and 150 souls devoted to wheat, barley, rye and the vine. It preserves the church of Santa Eulalia de Mérida and once had a hermitage of the Santísimo Cristo del Consuelo.
