What to see and do in Villán de Tordesillas

Villán de Tordesillas
Village
Villán de Tordesillas is a village in the province of Valladolid, with 122 inhabitants (INE 2025) over an area of 12.3 km², compared with the 218 it had in the mid-19th century. Tucked into a hollow between plateaus that opens towards Tordesillas, on whose lordship its villeins depended, it celebrates its most important festival in honour of San Urbán on 25 May. Of its church, under the invocation of San Miguel, of Romanesque origin and enlarged in Gothic-Mudéjar style, only the tower survives: the present-day body is of brick and was rebuilt in the 1970s.
The deep valley of Villán
Nature
At 748 metres of altitude and in a municipal district of barely 12.3 km2, the village is gathered in a valley so entrenched that Madoz described it in the middle of the 19th century as a deep valley of scarce ventilation, sheltered from the winds of the moorland.
The wine of Villán
Food and drink
The geographical dictionaries of the 19th century recorded here, alongside the cereals and the pulses, a production of wine that filled the village's cellars. Those vineyards of the valleys sheltered from the moorland gave for centuries the house clarete.
