Viloria
Village
Viloria, popularly known as Viloria del Henar, is a municipality in the south-east of the province of Valladolid, in Castile and León, bordering the province of Segovia -to which it belonged under an earlier administrative division- and set within the Tierra de Pinares district and the former Comunidad de Villa y Tierra de Cuéllar. The El Henar stream traces a narrow valley as it passes, protected for its scenic value. This village of about 340 inhabitants preserves a charter of privilege confirmed by John II, building on another from Sancho IV of 1294, which authorised residents to plant a pine forest for common use. Today pine nuts are harvested and packaged there, along with forging, leatherwork and honey production, and truffles and pistachios are being trialled.
