San Cristóbal de Cuéllar
Village
San Cristóbal de Cuéllar is a municipality in the province of Segovia, 7 km west of Cuéllar, in the Sexmo de Montemayor of the former Comunidad de Villa y Tierra de Cuéllar. Set among hills, it is crossed by the Horcajo stream, which dries up in summer. Its residents choose their councilors by their own method: they gather two months before elections to select, on an open list, five candidates, who form the municipality's ticket. A village of about 161 inhabitants, with traditional adobe houses, its 18th-century church holds notable silverwork, including a baptismal shell crafted in 1774 by the Cuéllar silversmith Juan Antonio Sanz Delgado, and a limestone fountain presides over the Plaza Mayor.
