What to see and do in Samboal

Samboal
Village
Samboal is a municipality in the province of Segovia, in the Tierra de Pinares district, part of the Comunidad de Villa y Tierra de Cuéllar together with the settlement of Narros de Cuéllar, an independent municipality until 1970. In the mid-19th century, when it was known as San Boal, it was a farming village of about 80 houses and 320 souls, devoted to growing wheat, rye and pine nuts, which its residents sold to Aragonese merchants, in addition to sheep and cattle farming. Its church, dedicated to Carracielo del Pinar and declared Bien de Interés Cultural (Spain's highest level of heritage protection) in 2001, is, together with that of San Andrés de Cuéllar, the foremost example of brick Romanesque-Mudejar architecture in Segovia. It now has about 459 inhabitants and celebrates San Baudilio on 20 May and the Virgen del Carmen on 16 July.
