Nieva
Village
Nieva is a locality of about 256 inhabitants in the Campiña Segoviana, at the start of the sea of pines, founded between 1088, when the resettlement of Segovia began, and 1247, the year of its first documented mention. In 1402 the Hieronymite monks of the monastery of El Parral began acquiring land in the village and founded a farmhouse there. Located on the Camino de Santiago de Madrid, it preserves the church of San Esteban, which mixes Romanesque and Mudéjar styles, and the hermitage of the Virgen del Pozo Viejo. In its municipal area grows the Pino Morgas, a stone pine more than 350 years old and 24 metres tall, included in the regional catalogue of singular trees, with a crown that stands out from several kilometres away.
