What to see and do in Domingo García

Domingo García
Village
Domingo García is a hamlet of 29 inhabitants in the Campiña Segoviana, famous for its open-air rock art site, with a Palaeolithic horse engraved by pecking like those at Siega Verde. On the same hill, which gives the site its name, the Romanesque hermitage of San Isidro is falling into ruin, included, owing to its lamentable state, on Hispania Nostra's Lista Roja de Patrimonio en Peligro. The village also preserves the parish church of Santa Cecilia, dating originally from the 16th century, with an image of the saint from 1720 and a baptismal font carved from a single piece of stone. In the mid-19th century it had 296 inhabitants, well above the current number.
Paleolithic engravings of the Cerro de San Isidro
Monument
The slate outcrops of the hill hold one of the most important complexes of open-air rock art in Europe: 43 figures spread over fifteen rocks, among them 23 equids, 9 cervids, 7 bovids and 4 caprids, engraved by pecking and incision.
Fifteen hundred later engravings
Curiosity
On the same rocks of the Cerro de San Isidro around 1,500 more recent engravings are piled up, ranging from the Bronze Age to the Modern Age and representing animals, human figures and scenes of combat between horsemen.
