What to see and do in Ituero y Lama

Ituero y Lama
Village
Ituero y Lama is a Segovian municipality of around 492 inhabitants, born of the medieval union of the hamlets of Fituero and Lama, which was the head of the Sexmo de San Martín within the Comunidad de Ciudad y Tierra de Segovia, resettled by people from Galicia. Until the 1916 reform of municipal names it was called simply Ituero. It preserves the Gothic church of Santiago Apóstol, its patron saint, whose feast is celebrated on the 25th of July, as well as the corral del concejo and a lime kiln, both restored, and the Paredón de Santa Elena, the remains of an old hermitage. Since 2007 the housing developments of the Coto de San Isidro and the Cerca Nueva, mostly second homes, have grown until, in 2023, they held more than 80% of the municipality's population.
