What to see and do in El Tejado

El Tejado
Village
El Tejado is a municipality in the comarca of Guijuelo and the sub-comarca of Alto Tormes, in Salamanca, made up of three settlements -El Tejado, La Casilla and La Magdalena, the latter the largest and the seat of the town hall- separated from each other by half a kilometre; it is the first village the río Tormes reaches on entering the province. At its foot rises the Cerro del Berrueco, on the boundary with Ávila, whose summit, the Casa del Santo, reaches 1354 metres and gives its name to the remains of an old chapel dedicated to San Cristóbal. The place preserves the memory of several prehistoric settlements. It belonged to the Order of Calatrava until 1539, when it passed to the Dukes of Alba. It has 83 inhabitants.

Historical milestone
