Lantadilla
Village
Lantadilla is a village in the Tierra de Campos comarca, in the province of Palencia, situated on the right bank of the río Pisuerga, which here forms the border with the province of Burgos. Its name comes from “Plantada”, a Romance place name equivalent to plantation, because it is a plain with good grain yields. In the mid-19th century it had 1040 inhabitants. It preserves the church of la Asunción as its main monument, the hermitages of San Roque and Nuestra Señora de Lantada, rebuilt in 1987, and a stone bridge over the Pisuerga from the late 16th century. The patron saint festivities are held on 15 and 16 August. It has 277 inhabitants.
