What to see and do in Puente de Domingo Flórez

Puente de Domingo Flórez
Village
Puente de Domingo Flórez, A Ponte de Domingos Flórez in Galician, is a León town of about 1,350 inhabitants made up of seven localities, among them Salas de la Ribera and San Pedro de Trones. It lies in the Cabrera Baja, on the border with the province of Orense and at a crossroads between the comarcas of La Cabrera, El Bierzo and Valdeorras; it is one of the municipalities of León where, besides Spanish, Galician is also spoken. It is the lowest locality of La Cabrera, at 377 metres, at the point where the río Cabrera flows into the Sil. Already in Roman times coins and metalworking slag have been found in the municipality, and its medieval founding, within the Kingdom of León, made it a mandatory passage point towards Galicia. Today the town lives chiefly off slate.
