Castellanos de Castro
Village
Castellanos de Castro is a municipality of 48 inhabitants in the Odra-Pisuerga comarca, with a municipal area of 9.93 square kilometers within the judicial district of Burgos. Its parish church is dedicated to San Pedro ad Víncula. The town, then called simply Castellanos, remained linked to the Hospital del Emperador of Burgos when King Alfonso VI granted it to the hospital on 20 February 1085; in 1128 Alfonso VI himself transferred that hospital, with all its holdings, to the see of Burgos, which exercised ownership through the bishops and archbishops of Burgos throughout the whole of the Ancien Régime. In the mid-19th century it had 124 inhabitants, more than double what it has today.
