Orbita
Village
Orbita is a hamlet in the comarca of La Moraña, in the province of Ávila, at 865 metres above sea level in the middle of the plain of La Moraña; it has 70 inhabitants, less than a third of the 225 recorded by Madoz in the mid-19th century, holding out against the depopulation of the comarca. Its parish church is dedicated to San Esteban Protomártir and holds a baroque altarpiece whose restoration is driven by the Asociación para la Reconstrucción de la Torre de Orbita, which also takes part in the Ciclo de Conciertos de Órgano of Ávila province, with performances scheduled in the village itself.
