Langa
Village
Langa is a town of about 441 inhabitants in the province of Ávila, in the district of La Moraña, situated at 865 metres of altitude and crossed by the Valtodano river, whose name probably comes from the Celtic lanka, riverbed. It was repopulated from 1085 onward by people who came from the north of the peninsula and, by the mid-19th century, had 265 inhabitants, according to Madoz. Its festivals of San Roque, from 14 to 17 August, with dances at the El Padrillo Sports Centre and activities such as hand pelota or mus, are among the best-attended in La Moraña; the village also celebrates Corpus Christi with altars in the streets, the Little Feast of Pentecost, San Antón and San Isidro.
