Hernansancho
Village
Hernansancho is a town of about 140 inhabitants in the centre of La Moraña abulense, at 900 metres of altitude, at the crossing of the road from Ávila to Arévalo and that from Sanchidrián to San Pedro del Arroyo. Its inhabitants, called hernansancheros, live from cereals and livestock; in the mid-19th century the village came to have 297 inhabitants. In the municipal elections of 22 May 2011 it was the first village in Spain where the UPyD party won the mayor's office. It preserves the church dedicated to San Martín Obispo.
