What to see and do in Noez

Noez
Village
Noez is a municipality in the comarca of Montes de Toledo, in the province of Toledo, with 1058 inhabitants, at the foot of the sierra that bears its name. It was part of La Sisla and was resettled by Toledan Mozarabs; the hamlet of Nuez, the village's original name, already appears mentioned in 1238 in a Mozarabic document of sale. In 1326 Alfonso Fernández Nieto created the place of Noez as the sole manorial lordship of the Niño family, among whose members were Fernando Niño I, alderman of the chapter of Toledo, and María Niño Ribera, founder in 1538 of the Mayorazgo de Noez. The main example of manorial architecture is the palace of the Niño family. The church of San Julián, with a single nave, was built in the mid-18th century in brick and masonry and preserves altars from the vanished monastery of Monte Sión.
