What to see and do in Villanueva de Alcorón

Villanueva de Alcorón
Village
Villanueva de Alcorón is the largest municipality, though not the head town, of its comarca of the Señorío de Molina, in the province of Guadalajara, with 140 inhabitants and bordering the Alto Tajo Natural Park. It sits on karst terrain shared with Cuenca and Teruel, dotted with sinkholes, among which the Sima de Alcorón stands out as one of its main tourist attractions; the village square is at 1,271 metres above sea level, and the municipal area ranges between the 1,381 metres of the Hoya Cifrián and the 1,120 metres of the Solana de los Lirios. It preserves the church of San Miguel Arcángel and, within its municipal area, the Celtiberian hillfort of the Hoya del Villar.
