Armallones
Village
Armallones is a municipality in the comarca of Señorío de Molina, in the province of Guadalajara, within the Alto Tajo nature reserve, at 1,205 metres above sea level and with a population of 52 inhabitants. Its municipal area contains the Hundido de Armallones, a canyon formed in the first half of the 16th century by a landslide collapsing onto the bed of the Tagus, whose enormous boulders created waterfalls and pools of crystal-clear water. The locality once lived off the production of resin, Greek pitch and turpentine, which its residents went so far as to display at the world's fairs of Vienna (1873) and Philadelphia (1876). Its church of Nuestra Señora de la Natividad, of Romanesque design, preserves a chapel with a Mudéjar artesonado ceiling, and the festivities are held from 6 to 8 August.
